The tradition of storytelling is one that is largely lost today. Past generations, by contrast, often used oral storytelling as a way to pass on traditions, teach lessons, and entertain. In this unit, we will read several Native American myths from a variety of nations and hopefully re-discover the importance of storytelling.
Did you know? Native American populations have dwindled from almost 20 million to 2 million since Europeans began settling this land. Unfortunately, this means a great loss of cultural practices and diminishing speakers of native languages.
